Diary of a Drifter-House #1 Chapter 2 Must Get A Bed

Oh my aching back.  Napping on this park bench is not something I would recommend to anyone.  Hopefully today I'll earn enough money to buy myself a bed.  I'll beg to go back to the Bin if I have to spend another night like that.  I need some coffee but I don't have a coffeepot, cup, coffee or even water yet. Maybe a shower will make me feel better.

Oooh that feels so much better.  Now I'm ready to start my day.  I'm a bit hungry so I should have some breakfast as breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Hmmmm maybe some blueberry pancakes with butter and dripping with maple syrup with a side order of crisp but not overdone bacon would be wonderful.   My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Instead when I got to the grill I noticed the hot dogs I made last night spoiled. Such a waste of food.  It really is a sin because now I have to make a whole other plate of them for today's meal.  Now I'm not sure do I want to keep my food from spoiling or my back from aching?  Tough decision to make.

There is no trashcan so I guess the food is just going to keep piling up.  Well a trash can is the least of my worries now.  I have to plan my day and I'm going to start with the things I want most to do.  I hear there is some kind of advantage for people who are out of the bin if they do the first things that just pop out of their heads.  Ok here is my to do list for the day:

  1. Weed a Plant
  2. Collect a Fossil
  3. Chat with Someone (hopefully a hot male)

Hey wait a minute what is that one doing.  She better not harvest that plant as I was looking for it.  I think I found my person to talk to because I have to set this bitch straight.

Her name was Cindy Lo and I told her that if she touched my plants I would knock her straight back to whateverville she came from.  It turns out she was only trying to help and water the plants for me.  That was so sweet of her I think I found myself a friend.

I decided to plant these chrysanthemums right on the edge of my lot.  I'm not sure where I'm going to place my house but I'm sure I'll want plenty of pretty flowers around.  Hopefully I'm not messing up.  Well I'm not messing up the almighty PG may be but I'm certainly not messing up.  Heaven knows she can't build houses to save her life or mine so I better just cross my fingers.

Must get a bed, Must get a bed, Must get a bed.

Must get a bed.

I'm too tired and hungry to grill up another batch of hot dogs so I'll just eat these strawberries from my pocket.  Since I found a way not to spoil so much food I know what I am doing with today's earnings.

I got a bed!  And its a double bed too!  What happened to that guy Travis I met the other day.  Hmmm I wonder why he just popped into my head right now.  I think I will invite him over unless I happen to see someone else who changes my mind.

Time to start another day of digging, harvesting and frog searching.  I grilled up some more hot dogs and asked Cindy to join me since she was watering the plants again for me.

It was right after breakfast that this guy walked into my life.  His name is Paolo Rocca.

Oh boy decisions.  I was planning on calling Travis back over but the latin lover over here has me thinking twice about that.

However things didn't work out for us as he had something else to do.  I really should just invite Travis back over.

Tonight I decided to grill up some chicken instead of hot dogs because I will actually be able to save the left overs.

As now I have a refrigerator, stove, counters, a radio, a table and a couple of chairs.

The grilled chicken from the night before was so good I decided to have it for breakfast.  I think tonight after my rounds for the day are finished I'll call Travis to see if he likes what I have done to the place.  Hopefully he isn't that picky about visiting houses that actually have walls.  I will have them eventually.

After I finished my rounds for the day. I did call Travis and he came right over. Sadly look at the way the almighty force made me serve a meal.  Doesn't she know that the chairs are supposed to be placed closer to the table.  And I expect HER to build a house for me.

It looked like Travis was getting ready to go but needless to say I worked some magic with this him.  He moved right in that very day.  This whirlwind romance of three days must have took him by surprise but I have him under my spell. Hey when you got it you got it!

Yes honey we are working on getting some walls.  That is the next order of business.

Later on that night we had some walls.  We tried for a baby but

it didn't happen.  Oh well if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.  And keep on trying as that was not bad at all.

The only problem was that I was sad and needed to cry it out before I could even start my rounds for the day.

Boy Travis really loves Christmas music as he seems to listen and dance to it all night long.

Just to show you my progress so far.  We might have walls but not a full house yet.  The small room that is enclosed is the bathroom.  My plans is to have the kitchen area right where you see it and our current bedroom will actually be the living room.  As of now we are thinking of placing the bedrooms upstairs but that might change.

Time for another pregnancy test.  I better buy some lights for the bathroom after my rounds for the day because it is dark in here.  Let's keep our fingers crossed because I'm certainly in a position where I can afford to take care of a baby.

Guess all that trying did work!

The first thing I did was tell Travis but...

he doesn't seem to thrilled about the news.  He has some crazy idea that we need a complete roof over our heads before starting a family.  Someone didn't get the picture and that person will remain nameless but he did warm up to the idea of becoming a father.  I guess I better get to my rounds now.  Baby needs a new set of walls.

    1. The house is getting there but God only knows what it will look like. If I manage to make it functional I'll consider that a victory. Expect to see many of them that look like a box with windows and a door. I'm excited to see the baby :)

  2. hahahaha OMG Darlene is too much. The almighty PG better work on her building skills because Darlene is judging her hard! LOL At least she snagged herself a cute guy and there's a little bundle of joy on the way. congrats. Hope she can afford a roof soon.

Question, with this challenge is the partner allowed to help with the family funds? I don't know how you're doing this from 0 funds. I'm struggling with Anahi using just the money she had left over after buying the house. LOL

    1. I certainly hope that Darlene is satisfied with a house that looks like a box as that is exactly what she will be getting. LOL All my houses look that way and the best thing I can say is that they are functional if they are. Look at what happened with Chrissie and Mickey's house LOL! I ended up choosing Travis because he reminded me of Dylan. I can't wait to see the baby too :)

In the rules they say that if someone adds funds to the house when they move in but there was no mention about their jobs. I'm not allowed to control him at all so unless he already has a job which Travis does I'm not allowed to get him one. I had to ask in the forum about his wages and those I can keep.

I'm not having any trouble with money on her because the stuff she collects really does help. Most days she earns 1 K just from collecting. Her bills are low too which helps. Marissa's bills are crazy they take half of whatever I have on hand most of the time.

    2. Correction on this-*In the rules they say that if someone adds funds to the house when they move in I must remove the funds*

  3. I don't know why, but Darlene should have a South Carolina accent. That is how she sounds to me lol
Here house is coming along very well, and congrats to her for being pregnant!

    1. I actually created Darlene after a character from a TV show I used to watch and she actually was from South Carolina and did speak with a southern accent. Thanks on the house and the baby.

  4. Glad to see she picked Travis. I don't think I've seen a Drifter marry him yet.
